CaO-ZrO2 and MgO-ZrO2

Infiltration of molten Calcium-Magnesium Alumino-Silicate (CMAS) deposits is a primary cause of failure of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) on aero-turbine engine blades. The TCS Metal Oxide Solutions Database (TCOX) is available to examine the most commonly applied TBC material, yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ). CaO-ZrO2 and MgO-ZrO2 are thus two of the core systems to be able to calculate CMAS/TBC interactions.
